Test Shots
What works best in this photo, I think is the way that none of the model's are looking at the camera. They are laughing and shown to be having a good time. However, there is a problem with the photo. The two models on the end are slightly cut off the edge.
I think this image works very well by the way it is shot on a diagonal. The problem with this photo is that not everyone is looking at the camera.
This example works well. Everyone is looking at the camera and the lighting is good. They are also all pretty much in the shot (with a slight bit of Nav and Abbie cut out). However, they are all doing the same pose. Also, I don't think its a very effective pose due to the simplicity, as they all just look to be standing normally.
This photo is a better, improved version of the last. All the model's have their own pose. The problem with this is that the model Chloe on the end is slightly cut off. Also, the shot was took too low down, which cut off the hands.
This is an improved photo to the last; the hands are fit into the picture. However, the heighting of the models appears to be in the wrong order, because the smallest person is in the middle. This could of been improved by putting her on the edge.
The model Chloe, has a better pose than in the last shot. She looks more involved in the shot.
In this shot, I like how the models are positioned. however, they aren't all looking at the camera. Also, the background is dull and unappealing to the eye.
In this photo, the models all have their own orginal pose. They are all looking at the camera, and seen to be smiling or laughing. This creates a happy scene.
In this shot, the model's are all closer together. They are all looking at the camera. I like the way that there are three models on the higher step, and two on the lower step. This would be improved if it was in a different location with a better background/setting.
The same as the last picture, except the models are looking more energetic and lively because they are laughing and smiling.
This is an action shot of the models walking along the corridor. The shot was took quite a distance from the models, so they look very small on the image and you cant see them clearly. This photo wouldn't be ideal to use because it is too small to photoshop.
This is a shot of the models posing holding hands. Not everyone is looking at the camera, but Hanna and Chloe are. I don't think this makes a very good shot because I think that everyone should either be looking at the camera, or not have any eye-contact at all compared to half and half. This way, it means the models are all doing the same thing.
I think this shot works better than the last one, because you can see all the models faces clearly. It is also better because it is more zoomed in than the other photo, which makes the models a suitable size to be able to photoshop the image. I also like the way that they are standing.
This photo is pretty much the same as the last. However, you can't see all the models faces.
I like the way that this shot is set out. The models are all spread out, opposed to all being close together in the other pictures I took. I like the way that the models are standing. They are also all posing the same, with their hand on their right hip. I think this is very effective and works well. It would be improved by being in a better setting/location. Also, Beth is the tallest model so I think the photo would of looked better if she was the one at the back instead of Hanna (because Hanna is quite short), to even it out.
The same as the last picture, but the model at the back should be more in the centre of the shot to even it out.
This is an example of another action shot. As well as walking down the corridor. I decided to take a photo of my models running down the corridor. The fact that they are running gives them a 'windswept' kind of look. It would look better if they were closer, or if the picture was zoomed in. I also think it would look better if it was shot in a different location, preferably outside.
Test Shots Inspiration: Costumes
When researching the band 'The Saturday's', I was particularly inspired by the use of colours on their clothing. I noticed that in most of the pictures, each band member had their own individual colour. I have decided to use the same idea for pictures that I will take for my magazine. I would like my models/band members to all dress in different colours, so that they are all individual. As I want bright colours on my magazine, I will ensure that they dress in bright colours.
I was particularly inspired by this specific image because I noticed that rather than wearing bright coloured clothing such as dresses, they wore coloured items of clothing such as tights, with plain black dresses. I think this has a good effect because it doesn't look over the top with too many colours. It also looks very classy and sophisticated. Therefore, I have decided for my test shots I will create the same idea for the clothing by using coloured tights, or accessories. This will allow me to be able to compare which looks best for my magazine, as I will have to include coloured fonts, and I want to achieve something that looks bright and interesting, but not like it has been overdone. So I want to prevent using too much colour as much as I can on the shots, especially because there is five band members and therefore means I will have a lot of different colours on my magazine.Test Shots Inspiration: Make-up
For my test shots, I will take shots of my models wearing both of the following techniques; the smokey eyes and the lipstick. This will allow me to have a good idea of what it will look like on my final magazine. However, it might look too much, and end up looking too 'over the top'. So I will ensure that I take photos of my models with just the lipstick on and then take some other shots of them with just the eyshadow on. This will enable me to be able to compare them and decide which idea looks best for my final magazine. By doing this, ensures that I will achieve the best look possible for my final shots.
For my magazine, I want my models to base their make-up on the colour that they are wearing. I want to achieve a smokey eyed look similar to this picture. I like how the eyeshadow is used under the eye, as well as on the top as I think this brings out the eyes, and also brings out the shape. I also like how the black eyeliner is around the top and bottom of the eyes as well as it adds to the shape and brings outs the eyes even more than if it was just eyeshadow. This has inspired me to create an effect like this on my models, of which I all want them to have the same technique so that they all match, but just different colours.
I also thought of the idea of my models using lipstick. As I want to base my models make-up on the colour that they are wearing, I would like them to have the same colour lipstick as their clothing that they are wearing. By using bright coloured lipstick, it will achieve an unusual image which will make it stand out. I think this will look very interesting and effective.
I also want my models to wear bright coloured nail polish as part of their make-up. Again, I want them to wear there own individual colour. This has inspired me by giving me the idea that I could use this to do shots involving their hands to show off their nails. I think this would look rather effective.Artist' Profile

Beth had a part-time job as a cleaner at the Mill on the Soar pub in Broughton Astley before devoting time as a band member.
Style: Bethen has a plain and simple style. She loves having the opportunity to dress up and will go to all of the effect. She loves bright coloured clothing and floral patterns.

Band Profile: 'Ultralove'
For the creating of my band, I wanted five band members as I think this is a good, suitable number of people to have in a band. This is because it's an odd number, which is helpful when it comes to taking shots and pictures.
For deciding who I wanted to be the members of my band, I chose to have five contrasting personalities to make the band very interesting, yet every member is original and unique. I chose to have my friends Abbie Shingler, Bethen Dann, Chloe Norman, Hanna West and Navneet Virk as my band members. I chose Abbie because of her very outgoing personality. I chose Bethen because she is a very energetic, loud and lively character. I chose Chloe because she is the more grown up and mature one of the group. I chose Hanna because she is the sensible caring one. Finally, I chose Nav because of her very funny sense of humour. I think all of these different personalities work well together, which is why I decided to use them as my band members. I find it essential to have different characters because when put into a band, no one is the same and they are all original. Therefore, it makes the band for more interesting. This will help when it comes to writing articles for my double page spread because there is a range of different things for each character to talk about. They also all look very different and have their own style. This will be more effective when it comes to taking photos as they won't all look the same. I want to achieve this look so that it doesn't look bland or boring.
For coming up with a name for the band, I decided to use 'Ultralove'. Before I came up with the name for the band, I was researching music words to inspire me for a band name. However, I didn't find or adapt anything that was very interesting or unique. I then decided to research common band names that are already created. I came across the band 'Ultrabeat'. This particularly caught my interest because I previously came up with the idea of 'Beat' for the name of my magazine (which I didn't decide to use in the end). I was inspired by the word 'ultra' at the beginning of the name, and decided to use the word 'love' after it. Although 'ultra' and 'love' are two different words, I joined the together to make the name of the band all one word. (I think this works better for a band name because I find that names are more catchy when they are all one word.) I also like the way that it consists of two syllables, as I find this adds to the way that the name is pronounced or read. Although the word 'love' isn't anything to do with music, it can be associated with music because people are very passionate about music. This therefore represents that the band is passionate about their love of music. The word 'love' was a good word to use, because it could relate to other things as opposed to if I used a word to do with music, it wouldn't connote anything else, but music. I thought this was a very catchy name for a young girl band. It suits the band perfectly because they are all young girls, and its a very 'girly' title. It also sounds quite new and refreshed, and this is what this new band are because they have only just recently been formed.
